First of all, good places to look for an answer yourself:
* linux-il at linux.org.il - this is the Israeli Linux mailing list, this
is a good question for your question. Or gnubies-il at yahoogroups.com,
that's also a good place.
* http://distrowatch.com/ - over 500 distributions listed, and
counting. Go here for concrete data.
Really, there are many choices. Personally I would go with a Debian
based distro such as Mepis or Ubuntu, but for work, Red-Hat or
Mandriva are also okay.
