Try this site:
http://sial.org/howto/yum/
for RHEL3
Once you have yum installed you should be able to run
yum list available
to view all available packages. Also, when installing with yum,
dependencies are automatically downloaded.
OTOH, RHEL3 may have it's own quirks.
