Review by Shlomi Fish, November 1, 2004
Slash is a Perl-based framework
that powers Slashdot and other
similar news sites. It supports placing articles, commenting (and commenting
on comments), rating other people's comments, web-boxes with links, user
blogs, and has many available plug-ins, themes and customizations.
This book written by some of the Slash developers forms a good coverage
of Slash. It explains the basic concepts behind it, and how to set it up, how
to configure it, and how to customize it. If you need to set up a site like
Slashdot, then this book is definitely for you.
The style of the book is not too high and entertaining. Some parts are also
very funny.
